About VARTA

VARTA is engaged in plant research. With every crop, there is some portion that is now discarded or composted, this may be lower stem pieces or rejected flowers and plants. Much more is possible with these residual streams, in all sorts of areas.
For example, VARTA is studying whether oil, dye or fiber can be extracted on a laboratory scale, with a view to scaling up. With these extracted raw materials, product samples are made to then look with the grower at the possibilities of lifting this to a full-fledged product.
This could be in the direction of cosmetics, food or paper, among others. VARTA participates in the challenges and opportunities of scaling up. All of our research has a market launch focus.

We connect strength from the past with modern nursery techniques, with scientific research and with a practical working method, in order to name, research and develop into pilot products not only the ornamental and Taste value, but also the other contents of plants. Together with commissioning growers, we build low-threshold bridges between modern growers, their sustainable growing methods, the research field and business cases.
No unnecessary research with endless demand cycles, but together with the grower clearly establish the focus and only research what falls within the scope of the business case.
